Work We Turn Down

We don't do new home construction installs where the opening hasn't been framed yet - that's a builder's call, not a repair call. If your door is original to a house built in the late 1970s or early 80s and the track system is bent beyond adjustment, we'll tell you straight that replacement is the honest move rather than patching a door that'll fail again in six months; with household incomes in this area running well above the state median, most owners we talk to would rather pay once for a new door than twice for patched-up parts.

We also won't quote a repair sight unseen over the phone for anything beyond a spring or opener swap - too many doors in this age range have hidden wear in the track or jamb that changes the job once we're standing in front of it. And we don't stock every obscure opener brand that shipped in small numbers during the building years here; if yours is one of those, we'll tell you upfront instead of ordering a part that might take weeks.

Where We Work

Vancouver's housing went up mostly between 1977 and 2011, with the median build year sitting around 1994 - so the bulk of what we touch is 1980s and 90s construction, torsion and extension setups that were standard for that era, spread across the 22 named areas that make up this part of the county. That means openers from a narrower window of manufacturing than you'd find in an older city, which actually makes parts easier to match once we know the neighborhood.

We cover the service area out to the distances in our own call log: close-in spots like a mile out a few miles beyond, then out through Hazel Dell, Orchards, Five Corners, Minnehaha, Barberton, and further still to Camas, Hockinson, Battle Ground, Ridgefield, and La Center. Winters here stay mild with occasional freeze, so we don't see the ice-jam failures some regions deal with, but we do see steel panels that have taken on moisture over a few decades, which shows up as rust at the bottom section first.

Questions

Frequently asked

Straight answers about garage door repair in Vancouver. Still unsure? Ask us directly.

Do you work in Hazel Dell or just Vancouver proper?

Hazel Dell is one of our regular service areas, along with Orchards, Salmon Creek, Five Corners, and the rest of the 22 areas we cover. If you're within about 20 minutes of central Vancouver, call and we'll confirm.

My house was built in the late 80s - is that why the spring keeps breaking?

Possibly. A lot of the housing stock here dates to the 1980s and 90s, and torsion springs from that era are simply reaching their cycle limit. It's not a design flaw, just normal wear on hardware that's 30-plus years old.

Does Vancouver's weather affect garage doors much?

The climate band here is mild with occasional freeze, so we don't see the extreme cold damage some regions do. But a freeze snap can still stiffen old grease or seize a roller on an unheated garage, especially on doors that haven't been serviced in years.

Do you stock parts for older or custom doors?

We carry what fits the standard steel sectional doors common across the housing stock here. For older custom or wood carriage doors, we may need to order the part - we'll tell you that honestly before starting the job.
